The Director of Public of Prosecutions Noordin Haji has recalled two files related to  the 2016 Rio Olympics scandal against National Olympics Committee of Kenya (NOC-K) officials for review.

This is after the officials, including Team Kenya Chef-de-Mission for Rio 2016 Olympics Stephen arap Soi and Secretary General Francis Kinyili Paul, were prosecuted in relatation to the scandal.

When the matter against four NOC-K officials Soi, Kinyili,vice-president Pius Ochieng and vice chairman Ben Ekumbo came up yesterday for hearing, State Counsel Angela Fuchaka sought more time to enable the DPP to peruse the files and make a proper decision since there are two matters pending in a different court.

Andayi granted DPP Haji more time after the new development until February 20, next year.

Haji’s move comes after Soi and Kanyili raised concerns with their prosecution in two different courts relating to same transactions over Rio scandal.

They had argued that the parallel proceedings by the DPP amounts to a violation of their rights.

In first case,  Soi faces five charges of stealing US dollars 256,000 (Sh25,907,705) from the government, NOC-K and Athletics Kenya.

Kanyili is separately charged with stealing the kit and failing to make an inventory of uniform donated by Nike apparel company.
