The top candidate in 2019 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) exam,  Andy Munyiri who scored 440 out of the possible 500 marks will join Alliance High School.

In the placements released on Monday by Education Cabinet Secretary Prof George Magoha, the second candidates who tied with 439 marks, June Jeptoo and Onyango Flavian, are set to join Pangani Girls and Alliance Girls respectively.

 “I will seek audience with the President on the fate of over age students to ensure 100 per cent transition to secondary school,” said Magoha.

Magoha said the number has excluded inmates, over-age and those in refugee camps.

Out of 1,083,456 students who sat for this year’s KCPE, 1,075,201 have been placed to various secondary schools countrywide.

 Some 33,009 candidates are set to join national schools and another 184,816 will join extra-county schools.

 Magoha said Form one selection process has strictly been on merit and students’ choices.

County schools will accommodate 188,454, 669,145 will go to Sub-county schools and 777 to special needs education institutions.
