A somber mood engulfed Mediamax Newsroom Thursday, November 21, following the loss of their K24 TV news director Daniel Chemjor.

Described by many as cheerful and dedicated, Chemjor succumbed when his Toyota Premio car veered off the road and plunged into Cheploch Gorge at Kerio Valley on Wednesday November 20.

Chemjor had just left an entertainment joint shortly after 11 pm when the accident occurred.

“He left in high spirits insisting that he was late home. I do not think he was speeding because he had not taken any alcohol,” said Joseph Kurui, a manager at the joint where Chemjor spent his evening.

Efforts to retrieve his body and vehicle wreckage were led by local divers, the police and workers from SBI Construction Company.

News about Chemjor’s death broke early Thursday on various platforms in his workplace and caught many colleagues in disbelief.

His friends and colleagues have described him as cheerful and industrious man.

Mediamax Network acting Cheif Executive Officer Ken Ngaruiya described Chemjor as highly respected individual who worked well with everyone in the company.

“Chemjor was highly respected by managers and employees alike throughout the entire company. He was regarded as a dedicated worker by everyone who worked with him,” said CEO Ngaruiya.

Information Cabinet Secretary Joe Mucheru condoled with Chemjor’s family.

“It is with sadness that I have come to learn of the passing on of Daniel Chemjor, of K24 TV. I pray that his family and friends find the strength to see through this difficult time,” mourned CS Mucheru.

Chemjor was on paternity leave.

May his soul rest in peace.
