Traffic congestion during Safari Rally? It has been sorted, says Kimathi
All the traffic challenges which affected the WRC Safari Rally mobility last year have been addressed, officials said yesterday.
WRC Safari Rally CEO Phineas Kimathi said they have created link roads with the Kenya Wildlife Service Institute to ensure that rally traffic is not experienced just in case of traffic congestion by the fans.
“We have several interventions to ensure that people who park by the roadside are actually treated fairly by towing their vehicles out of the road, and those will be released on Monday at no fee. We realised last time that a lot of people packed by the roadside blocking the road in the process.”
Kimathi also called on Kenyans to remain obedient and corporate with the security personnel.
“Last time we were inconvenienced because we didn’t expect a large number of spectators. This time around, we have partnered with Quickmart to set up supermarkets or mobile units in the respective areas. Everything will be within reach to avoid unnecessary movement,” explained Kimathi.
The WRC Safari boss called on the fans to head to Naivasha in good time to avoid any hiccups that may be encountered.
“If you want to watch the rally on Friday, just come and settle on Friday so that we are not all on the same road at the same time.
