Aspirants vying for various parliamentary seats in Kiambu county yesterday cautioned Kenya Kwanza Alliance presidential candidate William Ruto against favouring UDA candidates over those of other smaller affiliate parties.

The aspirants, led by Pius Mbugua and George Gitau Wanjiru asked Ruto and Alliance’s top brass to treat all affiliate parties equally. “There ought to be no sacred cows in the Kenya Kwanza alliance and all affiliate parties should be treated as equals.”

Gitau, a Chama Cha Kazi parliamentary aspirant and  Wanjiru for Kikuyu echoed the sentiments, saying Kenya Kwanza partners should be accorded equal treatment.

Gitau asked Ruto to consider making his cabinet appointments should he win the August 9 election to non-elected leaders.

He said the move would ensure the electorate is not subjected to a by-election to replace any elected leader who would have been picked to the cabinet.

“In several constituencies across the Mt Kenya region, politicians allied to the DP are tipped to win and they being his foot soldier will most probably land cabinet posts. That means there will be by-elections because the constitution doesn’t allow one to hold two public offices simultaneously,” he said.

The politician who exuded confidence that he will beat the area MP Kimani Ichung’wah  hands down at the same time called upon politicians from across the political divide to conductor peaceful campaign devoid of name calling, mudslinging and violence.
