A political battle looms in Nakuru gubernatorial contest with the entry of former Senator James Mungai.

And, it appears, the rejuvenation of Jubilee party by President Uhuru Kenyatta has given the ruling outfit a new impetus with aspirants now flocking the party’s offices.

Speaking to People Daily yesterday, Mungai said he will vie on Jubilee a ticket and exuded confidence that he will clinch the party’s ticket in the primaries slated for next month.

“Yes, I am in the race for governor and I am already doing the ground work…” Mungai said, adding that he will prioritise trade, agriculture and creation of employment opportunities for the youth.

A large-scale maize grower, Mungai said he will use his extensive experience in the agriculture and business sector to spur growth in Nakuru.

 “We need somebody who understands the plight of traders and the youth. We want to create an amble environment to thrive while also promoting entrepreneurship. We want to make Nakuru a destination for investors who will in turn provide job opportunities for our youth,” he stated.

Mungai is battling for the Jubilee ticket, ironically, with his former 2017 running mate Stanley Karanja.
