Househelp to serve life in prison for child pornography
A domestic worker has been sentenced to life in prison after she was found guilty of defiling a four-year-old boy and filming the act for sale online.
Shanzu Chief Magistrate Florence Macharia (pictured) handed the life sentence to Edda Wakesho, 21, after she pleaded guilty to two sexual offences.
Macharia noted that the accused used the sex tape, which was viewed in court as part of the evidence for financial gain. “The minor had no idea what was happening to him. His innocence was taken away by the accused. She is, therefore, sentenced to serve life imprisonment,” the magistrate ruled. Wakesho was also convicted for 10 years for the offence of promoting child pornography. “The sentences will run concurrently,” Macharia ordered. According to the charge sheet, Wakesho sexually abused the minor and deliberately and unlawfully produced an audiovisual pornographic material of her in sexually explicit conduct with the minor.
Court was told that the suspect committed the offences between June 2020 and October 2021. She pleaded guilty to the charges. The facts of the case, as read to the court by the Prosecution, is that Wakesho, who was employed by the minor’s parents, left her job in October last year. In her mitigation, Wakesho told the court that she was remorseful and that she had resorted to committing the offences to make ends meet.
