The Lands ministry has directed land-buying firms in Ruiru and Juja Sub-counties to surrender their members’ registers, mother titles, maps and other related documents within a week for the ministry to fast track issuance of title deeds.

Ruiru Sub-County Deputy County Commissioner Geoffrey Ithai said the directive was issued after the ongoing land clinic in the area established that most of the land companies had taken decades to issue members with title deeds.

He attributed the delay to multiple allocations and leadership rows within the firms. Ithai said the companies’ director had a responsibility to issue title deeds to members.

Ruiru MP Simon King’ara said the area has 513 land-buying companies, adding that the ministry intends to issue 30,000 title deeds by the end of the land clinic on November 6. The two spoke during a meeting at Ruiru Chief’s Hall.
